Career Guidance Training moves to Limpopo

11-July-2013

Over the past 12 months SchoolTrade has trained over 500 KZN career guidance teachers. The training has helped teacher to implement eight critical skills, all necessary for decent school-based career guidance.

These skills are:

How to use the Career Calling DVD
Career Guidance across the curriculum
Starting a careers resource centre
Narrative counselling skills
How to arrange a TATS visit (Take an Adult 2 School)
Networking with the outside world
Using fun classroom career building exercises
Using the 1:1 Career Development record form

The question has always been, how do we get this excellent programme out to other provinces?
In July this year this question was answered when we received an invitation to train staff at the Giyani Careers Centre (GCC) in Limpopo. For the past few years this centre has been providing career guidance to groups of learners.

Recently the GCC decided to up their game and offer training to career guidance teachers from the Department of Education. In this way far more learners will benefit.

After two intensive days this wonderful team had a good grasp of the SchoolTrade Teacher Training programme. SchoolTrade will continue to support them as they tackle teacher -training in their province.

The team from the GCC show off their SchoolTrade training manuals.
